This neoprene sleeve is the perfect fit for my 18.4″ laptop — not too tight, not too loose — it’s juuuust right!

I’m using this sleeve in conjunction with a Caselogic 18-Inch Laptop Briefcase and you can check out my review on that if you’re interested. Basically, there isn’t much to say about this sleeve other than it adds some extra padding for the laptop when it’s in my briefcase and it isn’t cluttered with useless pockets I’ll never use.

I saw some other sleeves with pockets but felt they defeated the whole purpose of a neoprene sleeve — that’s what a briefcase is for. Using a sleeve with pockets and stuffing them with a mouse, cables or even just a USB flash drive, only raises the risk of damaging your laptop. Personally, I don’t want anything pressing against my laptop, so this plain and simple sleeve was exactly what I was looking for.

My laptop is protected from the zipper on this sleeve by extra fabric that overlaps and rests between the zipper and laptop. And that’s good, cuz the last thing I want is a sleeve that causes scratches. Having said that, I wish the sleeve itself were just a bit thicker — as it is, it’s just slightly too thin for my taste, but still very nice.

Bottom Line

If you have an 18.4″ laptop, this is one of the only neoprene sleeves out there that will fit your laptop — and it fits Qosmio X505 perfectly. This sleeve is very well made and feels like good quality, though the material itself could have been slightly thicker.

After years of supporting printers with these printheads, I generally haven’t had many problems. It can definitely be difficult to figure out which printhead needs replacing, despite what the display says. Make sure to wipe the contacts clean on all printheads before replacing any. Replacing all at once may be a good strategy.

I use this product in an army-surplus style shoulder bag. It really helps keep my stuff organized. Takes a few extra moments to put stuff back into the grid rather than just tossing it in a pocket, but it is worth it!

I much prefer the pilot G2 series to the ‘equivalent’ UniBall pens. While the G2 gel ink does dry faster it does not dry as fast as I would like.

_fyi_

* The G2 grip is round: much preferred to triangle variations of other brands

* grip has ridges nearer pen tip and slightly larger diameter smooth surface for those who prefer to grip further from the pen tip.

* I lose the pen before running out of ink [where lose usually means people permanently borrow without permission]

* prefer the 0.5 to the 1.0, but ultimately prefer the 0.38

* fine = 0.7
* x-fine = 0.5
* ultra-fine = 0.35

* I’ve never seen a refill kit in a BnM store for the G2 series though they allegedly exist

_pro_

* faster drying than uniball gel

* more comfortable grip than other gels I have used

* unlike an uncapped unibal gel the retractable (uncapped) pens do not self destruct because of prolonged disuse (after initial use)

* functions at narrow angle to paper

* does not “gum up” when certain people borrow to write on skin

* less tactile feedback from writing surface than uniball

_cons_

* ink does not dry as fast as I would like

** occasionally smearing- while inking my palm

* the dozen pack of 0.5 is three bux less at Office max

When I travel I always carry a camera, laptop, and other stuff so this bag fit’s the bill nicely. It unzips quickly and the side access works well to get a quick shot off. I also like that it doesn’t unzip ALL the way so my lenses and charger don’t spill out. The vertical zip pocket on the top gets the most use for frequently used stuff. It’s roomy enough for lots of stuff, but not too bulky, and the laptop compartment is rigid enough for good protection, but still comfortable on the back.

I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for 1 thing: the camera compartment isn’t designed very well. This could be fixed easily if the velcro which hold the dividers covered more area on the sides of the camera compartment so that you could move the dividers to the proper spacing. You see, the dividers are removable, but you can’t move them side to side to change the spacing more than a quarter of an inch. So what you see is what you get for the photo compartment, and what you get is not right. I have a Canon T2i, and the space for it is WAY to big. Even if you had a Mark IV with a 400 mm lens, the space is too big for it. So my little T2i flops around quite a bit, which is not good. It also wastes so much space, that if I were allowed to rezise the compartment, I could fit at least 2 more lenses in there. Right now I can fit 2 lenses perfectly, and a 3rd lens where it flops around in a space which is too big.

If you buy this bag, bring some extra socks to you can pad your camera and lenses. Just hope they don’t fall out when you pull out the camera for a quick shot.
